is your chance!! We want the audience to discover up-and-coming talent
and provide an opportunity to anyone who feels they have what it takes
to showcase the dance style of their choice. We want to see raw talent, high energy and originality! We made it it simple.

Competition format: - FREE to enter and open to national and international participants.You must be over 18 years old. - It can be 1 person and up to four in a group. - Mix cannot exceed 4.5 minutes MAX for all acts. - You MUST perform ANY Afro-Latin related dances of your choice such as: Kizomba, Semba, Kuduro, Coupe Decale, Soukouss, Funana, Coladera, Afro... - It doesn't matter where you are from, just be the best you can be, within the dance style you choose to showcase. - You can mix dance styles. You can do acrobatics. 70% should be dance based however. - The best act overall wins, i.e. act with largest combination of votes in all categories, regardless of dance style. - The main categories voted in are CREATIVITY, ORIGINALITY & TECHNIQUE!
Evaluation based on: Creativity (0-10); Interpretation (0-10); Originality (0-10); Technique (0-10); Choreography (0-10); Costumes & Scenography (0-10);

Akosua Boakye :
Akosua began her dance training at Laban and in 1994 transferred to Roehampton Institute, graduating in 1997 with a BA combined (Hons) in Dance Studies and Social Policy and Administration. During her dance training in London she regularly travelled to Ghana taking classes in West African traditional dances. As part of her dance studies, in 1995 she was selected to represent Roehampton institute in an exchange programme at Gaucher College, Baltimore, Maryland. Akosua went on to work and tour in Atlanta performing with the Soweto Street Beat Dance Company from South Africa. In 2005 Akosua became head of Dance Studies at Kensington and Chelsea College where she teaches Contemporary and African dance. In the summer of 2006 she began running Africandance classes at the Siobhan Davis Studios, ending in the summer of 2007. In May this year Akosua became curriculum leader for performing Arts at Kensington and Chelsea College. She is currently further developing her own style and movement vocabulary in African Dance and pursuing her final year of her PGCE.
Ariel Rios Roberts has performed and choreographed in many of the best theatres in Havana, Cuba, sharing stage with a number of prestigious groups including The National Ballet of Cuba, National Folk Group, Isadanza and Yoruba Andabo. Ariel has over nine years experience of designing and presenting courses in dance, including master classes, lectures and presentations in cultural centres, specialising in: Cha Cha Cha, Mambo, Son, Danzon, Rumba, Afro Cuban, Salsa and Casino. In addition, Ariel has over fifteen years experience as a professional dancer including as a soloist and as a member of the cast with the Folk University group of the Habana University where he co-ordinated and choreographed national and international dance tours. Sa'id Sallu:Sa'id hails from Sierra Leone and is a detail-oriented and dedicated "Kizombeiro" and has been teaching it since 2007. His love of the dance, music and culture has enabled him to accelerate his knowledge of Kizomba pto span the various forms of Semba, Passada, Coladeira & Tarraxinha, as well a grounding in related Afro-Rhythms forms of Ndombolo, Coupe-Decalé and, of course, Kuduro which assist body movement. He combines the best of the old and the new influences in his approach. Sa'id is a true Kizomba enthusiast. He drove a successful launch of the Kizomba Movement in Sydney, Australia (2007) where his infectious attitude and patient technique helped promote the genre in the main Latin Dance Schools and start an impressive following in collaboration with Latin Motion Australia and Step-up Studios. He has performed and taught Kizomba in several large congresses across Europe including UK(BatUKe & MamboCity), France (Kizomba Swimming), Belgium (KizombaLove), Slovakia, Czech Republic (Afro-Bailar) and Poland(Salsa Libre). He currently lives and teaches mainly in London and several areas around the UK.
